Recommendations for a resort / experience for my fobby, frugal Asian parents for Christmas

I live in San Francisco but my parents live in LA. I'm looking for a resort or experience to give my parents anytime between the December 22 - January 2. Ideally it would be 1-3 days.
I took my parents to Florida once and they were more entertained by the Hard Rock Casino than me taking them to the Everglades or South Beach. They're not into touristy places or money traps like Disneyland although they really do enjoy light gambling and eating. They're the type to be mostly just on their iPads updating their Facebooks (especially my mom), exploit seafood buffets, and pose infront of anything that looks like a statue. I don't know if they would enjoy the zoo or an aquarium. They're into outlets but not really into huge malls unless there is something to pose next to. It's just I would rather pay for everything upfront ahead of time, like paying for all the buffet dinners or spa time than having them see me pay every single time.
I was thinking about taking them to Pala in SD but would rather find something a bit closer. Does anyone have any ideas? If it's really worth it, I wouldn't mind taking them somewhere past LA.

[WEEKEND RECAP] Timothy Bradley vs Manny Pacquiao, Gilberto Ramirez Sanchez vs Giovanni Lorenzo, Anthony Mundine vs Joshua Clottey, Frank Buglioni vs Sergey Khomitsky + more

Wednesday April 9

From Entertainment Centre, Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia

Joshua Clottey won a unanimous decision over Anthony Mundine

If you saw any replay or read anything about it, you probably saw that Joshua Clottey is now changing his nickname. It used to be Grandmaster, then it was Turtle Shell, and now it’s Concrete. Clottey dropped Mundine 5 times in an ugly affair that had some nice fouls in it too. This new found power for Clottey makes him a dangerous addition to the junior middleweight or middleweight division. Clottey has jumped into the outskirts of the junior middleweight division. Ask yourself this question, how would Joshua Clottey fair against Ishe Smith? Cornelius Bundrage? Jermell Charlo? Carlos Molina? Vanes Martirosyan? Because that’s his competition. Even before Clottey went on hiatus, he would have probably beaten most of those guys and I think now with his heavy hands, he’d be a favorite over a couple of them. The Joshua Clottey era is not over, yet!

Thursday April 10

From BB King Blues Club & Grill, New York, New York

Ievgen Khytrov stopped Jas Phipps in 2 rounds

Okay, so Khytrov is 3-0 now. Why is he here? This guy has potential to be the next big thing, that’s why. He’s a little green, no doubt about that, but his amateur experience indicates that this kid is the real deal. He was robbed against Anthony Ogogo at the London games and he’s got a win over Ryota Murata. Above all, he’s fun to watch. He’s a hunter. He comes forward and applies immense pressure. He lacks the patience of Golovkin, but he cuts off the ring like him. Phipps was either overmatched or simply wasn’t prepared to be overwhelmed with pressure. Khytrov stopped him with a stiff jab straight right and a left hook before the referee jumped into stop it.

Friday April 11

From Del Mar Fairgrounds, San Diego, California

Mercito Gesta stopped Edgar Riovalle in eight rounds

From Double Tree Westshore Hotel, Tampa, Florida

Shannon Briggs knocked out Maurenzo Smith in one round

Whoa whoa whoa, wait a god damn minute. Did you just say Shannon Briggs? In action? The guy is 42 years old! His last fight was 4 years ago when Vitali Klitschko battered him for 12 rounds! He’s back? Yep, and he knocked out poor Maurenzo Smith in 1 round.
From Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, Las Vegas, Nevada

Gilberto Ramirez stopped Giovanni Lorenzo in 5 rounds

Ramirez looks great. He not only got to show off a dynamic offense, but he showed he’s also got a chin. Lorenzo used a beautiful straight left to the body, his body shots were vicious, and Lorenzo fought most of the fight moving from corner to corner. With this win, Ramirez now sets himself up to join HBO’s growing pool of middleweights. We may possibly see him on the Marquez-Alvarado or (if the fight ever gets made) Golovkin-Chavez Jr undercard. This guy is a relentless body snatcher with a brilliant straight left. I think he’s got a real bright future ahead of him… if he can move his head after he rushes forward to avoid getting countered between combinations.

Jesse Hart won a unanimous decision of Samuel Clarkson

Egor Mekhontsev knocked out Dwayne Williams in 3

Saturday April 12

From Blue Water Dokken, Esbjerg, Denmark

Erik Skoglund stopped Danilo D’Agata in 9

David Price knocked out Ondrej Pala in 3

This was a fun little fight. It was funny to see Pala, who looks small enough to be Price’s son, drop Price in the first with a thudding blow to the top of the head. Price was okay from that, although Pala thought he hurt him. Price at times fought from the Philly shell which was cute. Price would eventually drop Pala with a straight right and then finish him with the same punch before the referee called it off. Price has improved, he’s using his jab very effectively and he dealt with Pala’s pressure nicely, but I think Price lacks the coordination to really take it to the next level.

Andy Lee won a majority decision over Frank Haroche Horta

Ehh, let’s not talk about this one.
From Copper Box Arena, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Hackney Wick, London, UK

Ovill McKenzie knocked out Tony Conquest in the 5th round

This was a bad night for what was supposed to be a bunch of showcase fights for Frank Warren’s prospects. Conquest was dropped and stopped in 5 rounds. It’s not like we didn’t know Conquest was chinny, though.

Chris Eubank Jr stopped Sandor Micsko in 2 rounds

I think Eubank is going to sign with Eddie Hearn this week to avoid the Warren curse.

Sergey Khomitsky stopped Frank Buglioni in 6

This was real shocking. Buglioni looked like one of the better prospects in the UK. I’m not going to take anything away from Khomitsky because all he did was come in and fight his ass off, but Buglioni didn’t look right from the start. Maybe this is what happens when you’re exposed, but Khomitsky seemed always a step ahead of him. Buglioni’s defense was pretty terrible. He jumped back in a straight line whenever Khomitsky came forward with his attack and when he put up his guard, it seemed like Khomitsky’s punches still found the mark. At about a minute and a half in the 5th round, Khomitky lands a big looping left hook that I think was the beginning of the end. He was able to land it again a few seconds later and Buglioni didn’t look the same after that. Buglioni eventually turned it up, but Khomitsky saw that as an opportunity to land big counter shots. Buglioini ate a big left hook at the beginning of the 6th. Khomitsky rushed him and Buglioni’s corner eventually jumped onto the mat to call it off.

Bradley Skeete stopped Tobia Giuseppe Loriga in 7

As if this card wasn’t weird enough, Skeete goes off and stops someone. I didn’t watch this, nor can I find a video of it.

William Warburton beat Gorgeous Georgie Kean on points

Well that was quick.
From MGM Grand Garden Arena, Las Vegas, Nevada

Manny Pacquiao regains his WBO welterweight title by unanimous decision over Timothy Bradley

These 2 put on one hell of a show. The pace was furious and both threw and landed some heavy bombs. Before I recap the fight, I just want to say this. Glenn Trowbridge’s 118-110 card is awful. You’re telling me Bradley won 2 rounds and that’s it? The fight was a hell of a lot closer than that and Trowbridge was a little too generous to Pacquiao. Other than that, this was truly what we should see from the elite fighters in the sport. Bradley began the fight showing that he could frustrate and outbox Pacquiao, while Pacquiao was able to get in and out as he always does with his rapid fire combinations. After the 4th, something shifted in Bradley’s strategy and he decided to sell out and go for a big knockout. It was a costly mistake that I believe cost him the fight. Both guys were hurt at points in the fight and everyone walked away entertained. I wouldn’t mind seeing a rematch.

Raymundo Beltran beat Arash Usmanee by unanimous decision

Beltran now lines himself up for a shot at lightweight champion and fellow Ricky Burns conqueror Terence Crawford. Beltran coasted to an easy victory behind his big left hook. I thought Usmanee made a costly mistake by trying to switch southpaw at times. It seemed a poor strategy against a guy who spent a lot of time sparring with one of the best southpaws in the game.

Jessie Vargas won the WBA world light welterweight title by unanimous decision over Allakhverdiev

This was a closer fight than the scorecards suggested. The 117-111 scorecard was a little negligent. Vargas won the early rounds behind his jab and quick combinations, but as the fight progressed, Allakhverdiev began to land his left. Allakhverdiev landed most of the bigger punches, while Vargas was consistent for nearly 12 rounds. I can see a rematch for these 2, but I’m not sure many would want to see it.

Bryan Vasquez won the interim WBA world super featherweight title by unanimous decision over Jose Felix Jr

Bryan Vasquez may have stole the show as he cleanly outboxed a young prospect in Jose Felix Jr over 12 rounds. Vasquez didn’t need to hurt him or put him down, he instead used a sustained and consistent body attack with slick defense to win him rounds. While 2 judges saw a point deduction being the difference here, don’t believe it. Vasquez won easily and I can see him going on to face Mikey Garcia, if not a rematch with Uchiyama.

Oscar Valdez stopped Adrian Perez in 4

Valdez looked sensational, landing at will and banging the body with vicious hooks.

Esquiva Falcao won a unanimous decision over Ethan Pena

Falcao has a long way to go as he adapts to the pro game. Whatever has been said about Zou Shiming, a lot can apply to Falcao.

[FIGHT PREVIEWS] Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez vs Alfredo Angulo, Rustam Nugaev vs Marvin Quintero, Jorge Arce vs Aldimar Silva Santos, Paul Butler vs Oreste Bernabe Nieva + more

Friday March 7

Pala Casino Spa and Resort, Pala, California
Time: 9:00 PM EST, 6:00 PM PST, 2:00 AM GMT
Television: ESPN2 (USA) DigiSport (Hungary)
Fight Thread: Yes

Rustam Nugaev 26(16)-6-1 vs Marvin Quintero 25(21)-4

10 rounds
lightweight division
Nugaev has a pretty shabby record, but he hasn’t lost in 7 years. Granted, the wins don’t necessarily add up to contender level. His opponent is coming off nearly a year and a half layoff. Quintero was last seen giving it his all and still losing a split decision to lightweight champion Miguel Vazquez. Prior to that, Quintero had never had a win that screamed contender. These two should combine for an entertaining fight with the winner possibly positioning himself for a shot at the #1 contender for a title at lightweight.

Khabir Suleymanov 16(6)-3 vs Roman Morales 17(9)-0

8 rounds
bantamweight division

Saturday March 8

From Domo de la Macroplaza, Nogales, Sonora, Mexico
Time: 11:00 PM EST, 8:00 PM PST, 4:00 AM GMT
Television: Azteca (Mexico) UniMas (USA)
Fight Thread: No

Jorge Arce 62(47)-7-2 vs Aldimar Silva Santos 19(10)-7

10 rounds
featherweight division
Arce’s latest retirement lasted all but 11 months. He made his return moving back to featherweight and knocked out Colombian Jose Carmona. Arce thinks he’s got one last run in him. The 34 year old will need to get past Silva Santos who’s 4 and 6 in his last 10. Shouldn’t be too hard.

David Alonso Lopez 41(23)-13-1 vs Jose Uzcategui 21(17)-0

10 rounds
middleweight division
From Aintree Equestian Centre, Liverpool, Merseyside, UK
Time:
Television: BoxNation (UK)
Fight Thread: No

Paul Butler 14(7)-0 vs Oreste Bernabe Nieva 15(6)-2-2

12 rounds
super flyweight division
Butler will enter world level in the near future. Nieva shouldn’t be too much of a threat to Butler. Nieva, at one point, fought 3 opponents in a row with a combined record of 0 wins 15 losses and a draw. Butler has elevated his level of opposition over the past 8 months this is yet another step for him. By the way, there will be no round-by-round of this fight simply because I don’t believe the demand is there for it. If this is something you guys want, then we’ll do it.

Kevin Satchell 11(2)-0 vs Isaac Quaye 25(16)-4-1

12 rounds
flyweight division
From MGM Grand, Las Vegas, Nevada
Time: 9:00 PM EST, 6:00 PM PST, 2:00 AM GMT
Television: Showtime PPV (USA) Boxnation (UK) Main Event (Australia) Sport 1 (Hungary) Televisa (Mexico) RPC-TV (Panama) GSP TV (Romania)
Fight Thread: Yes

Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez 42(30)-1-1 vs Alfredo Angulo 22(18)-3

12 rounds
junior middleweight division
I’m a strong believe in gut reactions. Usually my initial reaction when a fight gets announced is right 80% of the time. It’s only through hype, select highlight videos, and sheer human wonder that has led me to sometimes sway my picks and get them wrong. Anyway, in this case when it was announced it would be Canelo, coming off the loss to Mayweather, against Angulo, coming off the loss to Lara, I thought Canelo had it in the bag. Not only is it just my eye test, but I looked at boxrec and checked out Angulo’s record. I saw no notable wins. He was schooled by Cintron, destroyed by Kirkland, and outboxed and quit against Lara. Angulo fights with the heart of a lion, but he’s never had an impressive victory. Canelo’s close win over Trout and the mere fact that he’s improved in every fight except his last (the day someone shows improvement in a fight with Floyd… that’ll be the day.) I was confused at this point when I looked at the response from various boxing communities who proclaimed this to be a big mismatch and that Canelo (who’s only ever been hurt once in his career) would be stopped. On what grounds? I thought. How could people say this. Angulo is completely unproven when it comes to winning. He’s got power, certainly, but not the wins.
I brought all this up in conversation with hungry_freaks_daddy a few weeks ago and he had a brilliant point about this fight. I have yet to watch episode 2 of All Access, but I believe that what you’re about to read should have been the narrative Showtime ran with. Here’s the conversation:
Me: Trout is definitely his best win. The case I'm going to make is that this is a 50-50 fight. A lot of people believe Angulo is gonna wipe the floor with Canelo and while it's possible, it's unlikely. Angulo has ZERO notable wins. Canelo's win over Trout trumps anything Angulo has done. People have fallen in love with Angulo's supposed power, but when has he finished the job on a legit opponent?
HFD: Of course people don't want to show Canelo respect. He's the pretty boy darling fighter that is the protege of the pretty boy darling fighter. People don't identify with Canelo. They think he's been handed everything. They identify with Angulo because he looks the part of the fearsome underdog warrior. He has some pop, and he's in memorable fights. Somewhere in people's minds that turns into this being a mismatch for Canelo. People need to forget about the Mayweather fight. It shouldn't even count when you lose against Mayweather because it means jack shit. So, Canelo coming off beating Trout, vs Angulo coming off being stopped by Lara, and Lara dominating Trout. The A/B/C logic is usually silly, but come on.

Leo Santa Cruz 26(15)-0-1 vs Cristian Mijares 49(24)-7-2

12 rounds
WBC super bantamweight title
Santa Cruz is one of Golden Boy’s rising stars and he appears to not need their help. He looks like a young Margarito without the slow start. He’s a torrential downpour of offense and if we apply the transitive property here, Santa Cruz will blitz through Mijares with the force of the German blitzkrieg.

Carlos Molina 22(6)-5-2 vs Jermall Charlo 17(13)-0

12 rounds
IBF light middleweight title
With the recent arrest of Molina, it appears the fight may be bumped off the televised card. Seems like an appropriate way to avoid discussing Molina, now an outed sex offender, for an hour. As for the fight, I’m really happy for Jermall Charlo. I think his brother is a tad more skilled than he is, but he carries far more power and has the perfect style for it. Jermall has one of the best jabs in boxing already and that might be key to keep this fight watchable. Molina loves to make fights ugly by getting on the inside and clinching. If Charlo can keep Molina at the end of his jab, Molina will be in for a long night. The problem for Charlo is that Molina has shown to legitimately give problems to just about everyone he’s faced and it seems no one has completely figured out how to beat him without question. Molina has a case to be a 1 loss fighter if he had some luck, but he doesn’t.

Jorge Linares 35(23)-3 vs Nihito Arakawa 24(16)-3-1

10 rounds
lightweight division
This will be a don’t blink fight. Arakawa will come to fight, no doubt about that. The intrigue is that Linares will do his best to keep Arakawa from asserting his will by boxing his head off. I feel it will be only a matter of time before Arakawa breaks Linares down and it becomes a blood bath.

Will Tomlinson 21(12)-0-1 vs Jerry Belmontes 18(5)-3

10 rounds
super featherweight
Wild Wild Will will make his American debut after spending his entire career down under in Australia. This is a good time for Tomlinson to take his competition up a notch because super featherweight is stacked right now and there are a ton of fights to be had.

Sergio Thompson 28(26)-3 vs Ricardo Alvarez 23(14)-2-3

10 rounds
lightweight division
There are rumblings that this card may open the televised broadcast seeing as how Molina has gotten himself into a bit of trouble with the law. It will be a fun fight. Thompson’s power is no joke and he was in a fight of the year candidate last summer with WBC super featherweight champion Takashi Miura

[FIGHT RESULTS] Stevenson vs Bellew, Kovalev vs Sillakh, Chisora vs Pala, Zhong vs Kiatmungmee, Kameda vs Solis + more

Saturday November 30

From Colisee de Quebec, Quebec City, Quebec, Canada

Adonis Stevenson retained his WBC light heavyweight title defeating Tony Bellew by TKO6
Stevenson remained the legit, recognized light heavyweight champion of the world defeating the game, but outmatched Tony Bellew. Bellew fought valiantly for 5 rounds, but the natural athleticism and power of Stevenson allowed him to outwork and ultimately stop Bellew.
Sergey Kovalev retained his WBO light heavyweight title defeating Ismayl Sillakh by KO2
Kovalev, in Stevenson’s home country, stole the show from him and is now on a collision course to steal his title. Kovalev used a jab to the body to set up a lead right hand that put Sillakh on the canvas early into the second round. The referee allowed Sillakh to continue, but Kovalev, like a freight train, could not be stopped at that point.
Ionut Dan Ion defeated Kevin Bizier by SD
These 2 warriors submitted their bid for fight of the year. They threw everything they had at each other for 12 rounds and in the end Bizier found himself on the losing end for the first time in his career.
David Lemieux defeated Jose Miguel Torres by TKO7
At one point, Lemieux was a rising prospect that everyone had their eyes on. Following 2 losses, many may have abandoned the ship. On Saturday, he showed everyone once again why he was so highly regarded at one point. Torres, a durable veteran who’d never been stopped, found himself continually eating big shots from the hard punching Lemieux. After 7 trips to the canvas, the corner finally threw the towel in to save their man from any more damage.
Mikael Zewski defeated Ryan Davis by TKO3
Zewski is a prospect to watch. He lets his hands go nicely and attacks the body with intelligence.

From Maguan, China

Xiong Zhao Zhong retained his WBC minimumweight title against Lookrak Kiatmungmee by TKO5
Kiatmungmee was a late fill-in after Zhong’s originally opponent pulled out of the bout.

From Auditorio del Estado, Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico

Zolani Tete defeated Juan Carlos Sanchez Jr by KO10

From Coliseo Guillermo Angulo, Carolina, Puerto Rico

Thomas Dulorme defeated Hectora Velazquez by UD
Dulorme is, in my eyes, a highly rated prospect who’s sole detraction might be responsibility on defense. He was upset by a very capable Argentine and is on the rebuild. He was unable to stop Velazquez who with 19 losses was stopped 6 times. This, in my opinion, is a result of Dulorme fighting at welterweight when he should probably be at junior welterweight.
Luis Orlando Del Valle defeated Juan Jose Beltran by TKO4
Del Valle’s claim to fame was being beaten up by Vic Darchinyan. He, like Dulorme, is in rebuild mode and with some educated tweaks could be a player at super bantamweight.

From Copper Box Arena, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Hackney Wick, London, United Kingdom

Dereck Chisora defeated Ondrej Pala by TKO3
This was the main event of perhaps the weakest undercard of the month. Chisora looked a little worse than okay. He was lethargic in the opening rounds and was hit with some massive blows. In the 3rd, Chisora hit Pala with a solid blow and as Pala turned his back to Chisora, the referee stepped in and halted the action. It was a bizarre ending and certainly another blemish for UK boxing officials. Yes, I know the referee was Danish, but the bout occurred in the UK.
Frank Buglioni defeated Stepan Horvath by KO8
A fairly even fight that saw Buglioni put Horvath away with a vicious body shot. Buglioni, at 11-0, is a long way from leaving the domestic scene.
Bradley Skeete defeated Colin Lynes by UD
This was for the English welterweight title and a very disappointing bout.

From Belle of Baton Rouge Casino, Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Jeff Lacy defeated Martin Verdin by TKO3
I don’t know why I put this here.
Travis Scott defeated Donald Clark by TKO5
Scott is simply an undefeated local fighter with a cool nickname. They call him Sweet Feet and at 33 is a dude who only fights the local boys. He’s better than them and that’s it.

From Mountaineer Casino Racetrack and Resort, Chester, West Virginia

Johan Perez defeated Paul Spadafora by MD
The end of the line may be here for Spadafora. Johan Perez was better defensively. That’s saying a lot for a guy who’s claim to fame was being a masterful defender.
Morgan Fitch fought to a draw with Darnell Boone
Fitch, previously undefeated, chose to take on Bad News Boone and what do you know? His first fight that he doesn’t win.

From Bodymaker Colosseum, Osaka, Japan

Liborio Solis defeated Daiki Kameda by SD
Many believe it would be impossible to defeat Kameda by decision on Japanese soil, but Solis surprised everyone. Unfortunately, Solis didn’t make weight and Kameda will retain the IBF title. I believe the WBA is now vacant.
Katsunari Takayama retained his IBF minimuweight title against Vergilio Silvano
Takayama is now the likely opponent for Chinese WBC titlist Xiong Zhao Zhong who was also in action this weekend.
Tomoki Kameda retained his WBO bantamweight title against Immanuel Naidjala
The word I’m hearing is that Kameda is unlikely to look for a fight with any of the top bantamweight titlists, but rather is looking to move down in weight. Maybe he wants revenge for his brother and will face Liborio Solis (like Donaire did when he faced Darchinyan.)

[FIGHT PREVIEWS] Adonis Stevenson vs Tony Bellew, Sergey Kovalev vs Ismayl Sillakh, Dereck CHisora vs Ondrej Pala, Daiki Kameda vs Liborio Solis + more!

From Mountaineer Casino Racetrack and Resort, Chester, West Virginia

Paul Spadafora 48(19)-0-1 vs Johan Perez 17(12)-1-1

12 rounds

interim WBA world light welterweight title

In the boxing community, Spadafora is infamous for a sparring session he had with Mayweather where he controlled and according to some “schooled” Mayweather. Many believed that Spadafora would be the one to beat him should they ever fight. But his potential would never be realized following a prison stint for shooting his girlfriend. Two years removed from prison, the former IBF lightweight champion of 4 years violated his parole and was sent back to prison. Spadafora may have been one of the slickest, fastest, greatest, classiest, whateverists to lace up a pair of boxing gloves, but his own personal demons would be sure to keep that void in his life.
This will be Spadafora’s first 12 round fight in over 10 years. Johan Perez is a 30 year old Venezuelan who was a great prospect at one time. Losing to Pablo Cesar Cano in the summer of 2012 all but closed the book on him. Spadafora’s last chance runs through a once touted prospect. If Spadafora can win convincingly, he may move forward to realizing the potential we thought wasted away in prison cell.

Dereck Chisora 18(12)-4 vs Ondrej Pala 33(22)-3

12 rounds

heavyweight division

At one point in his career, Chisora was seen as a fast rising prospect who could make a run at one of the Klitschko’s. Then he proceeded to lose 4 of 5 fights and many counted him out. But those who looked closely at those losses knew he wasn’t done by a long shot. He took Tyson Fury 12 rounds, which is not an easy feat, he lost controversially to another rising prospect, gave Vitali Klitschko a good fight (although this was a very decisive loss), and was knocked out by David Haye.
Chisora has since been on the rebound, he’s beaten 2 prospects and looks to add another name to his resume to perhaps get another title shot in 2014. Ondrej Pala has been knocked out twice and shouldn’t provide too much trouble for Chisora. Chisora is an accomplished body puncher and Pala hasn’t faced opposition as tough or fierce as Chisora.

Sergey Kovalev 22(20)-0-1 vs Ismayl Sillakh 21(17)-1

12 rounds

WBO light heavyweight title

It’s easy to see what HBO is doing here. Nobody blames them, either. Kovalev continues to crush everyone put in his way and more and more people come to watch. A potential showdown with fellow titlist Adonis Stevenson seems inevitable. And with Andre Ward waiting in the wings for them, the light heavyweight division is one of boxing’s hottest divisions. Kovalev is like an oversized Lucas Matthysse. He marches forward, applies pressure, and looks to hurt his opponent. Sillakh will have the task of keeping Kovalev outside and maybe even hurting him. Thus far in his career, Kovalev has looked unbeatable. Can he stay undefeated to set-up the fight everyone wants to see?

Daiki Kameda 29(18)-3 vs Liborio Solis 15(7)-3-1

12 rounds

IBF super flyweight title

WBA World super flyweight title

While 2 belts will be on the line, this fight features neither of the top contenders at super flyweight. While in time they could make their way to the top of the super flyweight division, Omar Narvaez of Argentina will remain the king perhaps till he retires. Kameda is part of a fighting family and is a bit of a dirty fighter.
Katsunari Takayama 25(10)-6 vs Vergilio Silvano 17(10)-2-1

12 rounds

IBF minimumweight title

Despite 6 losses, Takayama is recognized as the top minimumweight in the world. He sports a loss to Roman Gonzalez and another to #2 ranked Nkosinathi Joyi. A win here is important for Takayama as it would set-up a potential huge fight with fellow Japanese minimumweight Ryo Miyazaki (who I believe is the real deal).

Official Organizational Districts of the Pala Isles and and some Plot announcements

Hello everyone!
The Pala Isles is being growth with shops and infrastructure starting to be planned and constructed and we now have a guide for farming and building plots for sale! They're numbered 1-9 and are open to rent or purchase by any party, but preferably a nation or corporation. Just PM what you'd like and what you wanna do with it and we can negotiate price and all that.
Also the plans for the resort district are being designed, with cafes, activities, sports, and other things planned. I may be even able to get someone to even build a casino, but thats an iffy.
Here's the map of the districts and plots http://i.imgur.com/PMHGhPJ.png (note the borders of the plots and some districts will be straighter in game)
Thank you for your time

[FIGHT PREVIEWS] Timothy Bradley vs Manny Pacquiao, Gilberto Ramirez Sanchez vs Giovanni Lorenzo, Anthony Mundine vs Joshua Clottey, Frank Buglioni vs Sergey Khomitsky + more

Anthony Mundine 46(27)-5 vs Joshua Clottey 37(22)-4

12 rounds
middleweight division
I’ve always liked Joshua Clottey. His performance against Pacquiao was such that it rewrote his history. He became known as the Ghanian Everlast punching bag. It’s not like he didn’t earn it, but it’s a bit disappointing. He was disqualified early in his career in a fight he was clearly winning for his first career loss. The next loss was against Antonio Margarito. I don’t see a planet where that Margarito would ever lose to a fighter like Clottey. Clottey has always been a shell fighter who emerges with hard counter shots. Margarito was free to rack up points all night long. His next loss came 3 years later after beating Diego Corrales and Zab Judah. His loss to Cotto was controversial and I’m gonna admit to you all that I thought Clottey won. I love Cotto, but the harder punches in that fight came from the Grandmaster. Clottey has since trekked up to middleweight and he faces Anthony Mundine. Mundine has a split decision over Geale as the best win of his career. I’m not counting his stoppage of Shane Mosley last year. Mosley has always had back problems (if you watch the first De La Hoya fight, he tells his dad in the corner about it.) I think given Mosley is a couple years from social security, it’s forgivable
All that said, I’m going to take Clottey. His experience with some of the best welterweights of this past decade should prepare him to beat 38 year old Mundine.

Mercito Gesta 26(14)-1-1 Edgar Riovalle 37(26)-17-2

8 rounds
lightweight division
What happened to you Mercito? You were contending for knockouts of the year on Friday Night Fights and you fought on the Pacquiao-Marquez IV undercard for the lightweight championship… and now you’re fighting an 8 rounder in some dirt field under Schaefer’s banner. You were seen as a potential candidate to be the next Filipino sensation given the knockouts you were scoring…
The Vazquez fight proved a couple of things. One, don’t question Gesta’s heart. The guy went out and never stopped trying to knock Vazquez out. That can be completely frustrating when fighting a master like Vazquez. Especially when you’re falling asleep. The other thing Gesta proved was that he’s a bit of a gunner. Gesta looked crude against Vazquez. He looked like a knockout was the only way he could beat a guy who had adept boxing skill. Gesta needs to improve that to make the next step in his career and at 26 there’s still time. I’m not sure who’s training him, but I’m not counting this kid out. With the right training, I think Gesta could turn into a force at lightweight. Riovalle is a tough opponent. In fact, this will be a good barometer for where Gesta is.

Gilberto Ramirez Sanchez 27(21)-0 vs Giovanni Lorenzo 33(25)-6

10 rounds
super middleweight division
All you guys out there that like to find out and watch the next wave of prospects, tune in. Seriously. Sanchez is 22 years old, he’s tall, he’s a southpaw, he’s just about everything you want to see in a Mexican prospect. He goes to the body, he’s aggressive, but the key to Sanchez is he’s also smart. He can move, he uses his jab to keep his opponents at a safe range, he throws in combination, and he’s got some pop. He’s still got some flaws, his defense is a bit frantic, but wait till you see his right hook. This could be Gilberto’s coming out party. He’s got a marketable look, too. His opponent is no Andre Ward, but let me tell you this: He’s gonna test Ramirez. This guy has been in with a ton of experienced guys. He took Sam Soliman, Hassan N’Dam N’Jikam, Felix Sturm, and Sebastian Sylvester the distance. Only Danny Jacobs has stopped him and it’s not like Jacobs doesn’t hit hard. I’m excited about this match. A future fight between Chavez Jr and Gilberto Ramirez would be bananas in Mexico. All he’s gotta do is keep on winning.

Jesse Hart 12(10)-0 vs Samuel Clarkson 10(6)-2

8 rounds
super middleweight division
Jesse Hart is a Philly fighter with an amateur pedigree. I like what I’ve seen from him. He’s got power and he’s not afraid to open up. I think this is supposed to be a showcase fight for Hart. Clarkson doesn’t have the strongest chin so look for Hart to stop the kid.

Haskell Rhodes 19(9)-0 vs Alejandro Rodriguez 21(12)-13-1

8 rounds
lightweight division

Egor Mekhontsev 2(2)-0 vs Dwayne Williams 5(2)-1

6 rounds
light heavyweight division
The Olympic gold medalist from the 2012 London Games returns to action. Mekhontsev looked spectacular in his fight on the Shiming undercard in February, but his opponent also looked like a guy this picked out waiting in line at the grocery store. Top Rank has high hopes for Mekhontsev, but the light heavyweight division may not have much room for him. I hope ESPN shows this fight.

David Price 16(14)-2 vs Ondrej Pala 33(23)-4

8 rounds
heavyweight division
Remember when Price was seen as the heir to the Klitschko throne. That he would be the guy to finally knock out Dr Steelhammer? Then Tony Thompson came and pissed all over it… That was a good lesson in how size and power severely overrate and blind people to the real inadequacies and shortcomings of fighters. Price is on the rebuild here his faces a guy who didn’t look too bad last year against Dereck Chisora. That is until the bizarre finish/stoppage. The way I feel about Price is similar to the way I feel about watching Steve Nash play basketball. I love the guy and want to see him do great, but I know how injury prone he is. Every move he makes, every corner he turns, every jump makes me cringe at the potential of him tweaking or aggravating something. It’s nerve racking. I wouldn’t be surprised here is Price doesn’t fair too well. His last fight was over in a minute and was not long enough to show that price has learned anything since getting stopped twice by old man Thompson. This should be interesting as long as it lasts.

Andy Lee 31(22)-2 vs Frank Haroche Horta 34(13)-12-5

Who the hell is promoting Andy Lee these days and why didn’t we get Lee-Macklin over St Patricks day weekend? It’s unfair. I’ve always liked Lee. Emmanuel Steward saw something special in him and that’s enough for me to believe in him. Lee has the distinction of dropping Brian Vera in both of his fights with him, which diet heavyweight Julio Cesar Chavez Jr failed to do in 2 fights with him. Lee also lost to Chavez Jr… but let’s leave the past in the past. Lee looked fantastic his last time out. He’s only 29 and I think could make a real run at the middleweight title.

Frank Buglioni 12(9)-0 vs Sergey Khomitsky 28(11)-10-2

10 rounds
super middleweight division
Leave it to Frank Warren to put on a card the same day as an American pay-per-view. Let’s stay on topic. I like Buglioni a lot. He doesn’t have one-punch power, but he puts his punches together nicely and takes his time. Thus far, it’s worked out nicely. Buglioni is only 24 and has a real chance to fight on the world level. Khomitsky doesn’t look like a good match-up on paper, but his record is deceiving… In his last fight against Martin Murray (you know, the guy that half the people here think beat Sergio Martinez, you crazy people) I thought Khomitsky probably won that fight. The referee gave the fight to Murray (of course) but the seed was planted. Either Murray isn’t as good as we thought and Sergio was just injured in their fight, or Murray fought the fight of his life against Sergio and now he’s done, or Khomitsky is pretty good… or styles make fights. It’s one of these things. Either way, do not get this twisted. Buglioni is still far from ready to be on the world level, but the potential is there and this is a good test to see where they should go with his development.

Tony Conquest 13(5)-1 vs Ovill McKenzie 21(10)-12

12 rounds

Hmmmmm

Bradley Skeete 15(4)-0 vs Tobia Giuseppe Loriga 27(6)-3-2

12 rounds
welterweight division
How the hell do they keep finding these guys that are even more feather-fisted than Skeete? This guy was probably the master of finding Waldo when he was younger. Maybe there’s another version of Boxrec with sortable columns. A little bit of trivia for you guys. Loriga was once knocked out by Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. The contracted weight? 153 pounds! Can you imagine a Chavez that skinny!? Guess how much Chavez weighed on fight night? Yep, you guessed it. 171 pounds. How does he do it? Maybe he’s controlling gravity around him. That is the only explanation.
I don’t wanna hate on Skeete because that dude has a done of balls and heart. He goes out there and fights his ass off, but I’m just not interested in seeing it. Skeete is pretty masterful at jabbing and moving laterally to keep his opponent from planting his feet and mounting offense. When he’s cornered, he steps in and clinches. First and foremost, it works. He’s not undefeated because he hits like Roman Gonzalez. But if he did hit like Roman Gonzalez, Skeete would be a terrifying fighter. In fact, I like thinking about this. Alternate universe Bradley Skeete. He’s just the same except he’s got long hair and packs 1-punch power… and he’s promoted by Ricky Hatton. But that is all fantasy. The reality is that Skeete has an unappealing style to even the hardcore fans and while he keeps on winning, it add up to a hill of beans until he either changes his style or knocks out a real contender.
PS. I was kidding about Chavez's weight. He really did weigh in at 153, I have no clue what he weighed on the night of the fight.

Hughie Fury 13(8)-0 vs Danny Hughes 12(3)-2-2

6 rounds
heavyweight division
Hughie is the more talented of the Fury’s, but they aren’t rushing anything with him. What I love about Hughie is that he’s a giant of a man who isn’t afraid to go to the body. This shouldn’t be too difficult of a fight for the big guy.

Georgie Kean 3(1)-0 vs William Warburton 11(2)-60-3

A sad loss for Quintero. At the time of the stoppage he was probably easily winning the fight, but an apparent broken hand forced to him withdraw himself from the fight. Nugaev stays on the fringe of relevance while the question of retirement must surely be present for Quintero.

Roman Morales won a UD over Khabir Suleymanov

Morales dropped Suleymanov multiple times on his way to an easy UD. Morales is now added to the prospect watch.

Saturday March 8

From Domo de la Macroplaza, Nogales, Sonora, Mexico

Jorge Arce stopped Aldimar Silva Santos in 5 rounds

I know what you're thinking. Didn't Arce retire? Yes, but come on. When has a fighter not retired 3 times before finally getting retired by some guy young enough to be their grandson? This wasn't that night for Arce. Arce dropped Santos with a very clever left hook and when he got his man in the corner and started to unload, the referee jumped in to stop it. Arce had too much veteran guile for Santos.

Jose Uzcategui stopped David Alonso Lopez in 6

From Aintree Equestrian Centre, Liverpool, Merseyside, UK

Paul Butler knocked out Oreste Bernabe Nieva in 4 rounds

Butler ended it with a left hook to the liver that granted him Mexican citizenship. Nieva was tough and tried to pressure Butler, but his defense and a well timed body shot finished Nieva.

Kevin Satchell won a unanimous decision over Isaac Quaye

From MGM Grand Garden Arena, Las Vegas, Nevada

Canelo Alvarez stopped Alfredo Angulo in the 10th round

Canelo fought like a man possessed… or maybe all the dog left in Angulo was left in Carson, California after his fight with Erislandy Lara. Even if it’s true, you can’t take anything away from Canelo. His performance warrants comparisons to Pacquiao’s fights with Antonio Margarito or Brandon Rios and Canelo deserves all the respect in the world. Unfortunately, those who paid to see a “toe-to-toe” war may find it hard to give him his full respect. A somewhat strange stoppage from Tony Weeks after Canelo landed the boxing equivalent to Ryu’s Shoryuken (dragon punch) early in the 10th. The truth of the matter is Canelo hit Angulo with everything but the kitchen sink and after that uppercut, it looked like he was going to bring out the sink. Depending on how you feel about Canelo you’ll either say Angulo had nothing and was a piss-poor match-up for Canelo or you’ll say Canelo just confirmed what we already know and that is that he’s a pretty special talent who may not be the greatest of all time, but definitely a worthy stand-in while we wait for the next great one to emerge.

Leo Santa Cruz won a UD over Cristian Mijares

Leo Santa Cruz dominated Mijares, but that’s not the story I’m interested in. Santa Cruz is now at the point where it’s tough to judge how good he really is. His opponents thus far have been very well selected and Santa Cruz has won each in dominating fashion. We’re at the point we had reached with Canelo before the Trout fight. Santa Cruz needs a signature win if he’s going to be taken seriously as a guy who can headline his own card. In many ways, I think Santa Cruz is in a similar position Donaire was in. He had wins that were even more brilliant than what Santa Cruz has accomplished, but it all came so easy and the opponents were usually a little past their prime, that it was tough to see how good Donaire truly was.

Jorge Linares won a UD over Nihito Arakawa

There’s something so beautiful and captivating about watching Jorge Linares fight. There isn’t a sexier offense in the game, and his defense looks definitely tolerable… but in the back of your head you know that at any point, the tides could change. It didn’t happen on Saturday night. Arakawa simply couldn’t land anything significant on Linares. Linares put on a beautiful clinic that has put him back in the conversation for a title shot against a champion. His likely next fight will be Omar Figueroa.

Sergio Thompson won a UD over Ricardo Alvarez

This was perhaps the fight of the night. Alvarez lost just about every round, but he showed tremendous heart. From the opening bell it was clear Thompson was on another realm when it came to punching power. Most people probably thought this fight wouldn’t see the end of the first round, let alone all 10. Thompson is there to be outboxed, but if you’re a lightweight with a suspect chin, watch out.

Jerry Belmontes won a UD over Will Tomlinson

For now, Daniel Geale remains as the premier and top Australian boxer in the world. Tomlinson made his American debut hoping to not become another Billy Dib. He unfortunately was soundly beat over 10 rounds.
Previews are a little brief this week. Previews will probably be too. I'm going to be away this weekend and I'm also working on a couple of other pieces. Apologies to anyone disappointed.
